FEB The COA applied incentive measures to accelerate the installation of GPS tracking devices on transport vehicles for live pigs and pig carcasses, and set out plans to legally require the installation of GPS tracking systems on such vehicles.
Announced that the ban on sale and use of 24% paraquat solution would be postponed for one year, and that the ban on its sale and use would begin on February 1, 2020.
Announced an interpretive rule pursuant to Subparagraph 3 of Article 7 of the "Farmer Health Insurance Act."
Organized the "Everybody Eat Rice" festival for consumption of domestically produced rice and set up "The Life of Paddy Rice" special food and agricultural education area.
The Executive Yuan approved an increase in incentive payments for reduced water use in the Taoyuan-Hsinchu-Miaoli irrigation district, in order to continue promotion of "trial measures for transitioning from paddy rice to dry-field crops in areas with restricted water resources."
The COA held a press conference on subsidies for small agricultural machinery.
Held the opening ceremonies for 10th anniversary activities for the Jhihben Nature Center and the ceremony to launch the wood education experiential facility, to remind people, through sensory experiences and hands-on fun with wood, of our unbreakable natural connection to trees.
Began operation of the cabbage cultivation registration system on a trial basis in Changhua County, Yunlin County, Chiayi County, and Tainan City.
Announced amendments to partial articles of the "Directions for Rice Direct Payment" (i.e. the "Direct Payments on Farmland" program).
Formed a drought emergency response team, and launched a variety of response mechanisms, held work conferences, researched various response measures, and provided guidance in the use of relevant field management technology.
Announced the "Specified Places Designated by the Import and Export Animal Quarantine Authority," which took effect on March 1, and announced amendments to Articles 4 and 6 of the "Regulations of Import Quarantine Operation for Animal Products Transported by Closed Container." By designating specified areas and doing concentrated inspection and quarantine examinations for randomly selected batches chosen through risk management, the COA simplified the examination process for containers and seals.
Announced the amendment of the "Regulations of a Certain Percentage and the Recommended Procedure of the Representative of the Public Legal Persons for the Directors or Supervisors of the Agricultural Foundation."
