The President promulgated an amendment adding Paragraph 10 to Article 34 of the "Statute for Prevention and Control of Infectious Animal Diseases" stating that "Quarantine objects must not be sent by post; otherwise, they will be returned, forfeited or destroyed"; the amendment took effect on January 6.
The COA accepted applications for subsidies for pig farms feeding pigs with kitchen waste to switch over to feed or for such farms to cease operations.
Announced amendments to the "Schedule of Protected Land Species," adding 17 species and deleting eight species of protected animals for the Taiwan area.
Announced the restricted use of 2.5% Chlorpyrifos dustable powder and 14 other pesticides, which took effect on February 1, 2019, to reduce the risks of exposure to consumers through food consumption.
Announced the amendment of Supplementary 3 of Article 4 of the "Criteria for Organizing of Compensation Appraisal Committee Members and the Appraisal Standards" under the "Statute for Prevention and Control of Infectious Animal Diseases"; the egg-laying rate and hatching rate for breeding poultry under the poultry appraisal standards can once again be provided by the breeding poultry farm, and in cases in which the farm cannot provide this data, the reference value provided by the Livestock Research Institute shall be used for calculations.
Announced amendments to Articles 15, 17, and 25 of the "Enforcement Rules of Plant Protection and Quarantine Act," which took effect on March 1, 2019; and also announced the "Operation Directions for the Recognition of Safe Inspection Zones of Container Terminals of Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan," to improve safety for inspectors on duty.
Announced amendments to Articles 6 and 18 of the "Regulations for Fishing Vessels Conducting Southern Bluefin Tuna Fishery" and Article 10 of the "Regulations for Fishing Vessels Catching Mackerels and Jacks."
Sent staff to the Hague, the Netherlands to attend the 7th Commission Meeting of the South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organization (SPRFMO) and meetings of relevant subsidiary bodies.
Held a press conference for the launch of a cultivation registration system for cabbage and did a follow-up information campaign on production-and-marketing guidance measures.
Worked with the Pingtung County government to hold the "2019 Pingtung Tropical Agriculture Expo," setting up three themed areas (on forward-looking technology for tropical agriculture, smart agriculture, and innovative breeding) as well as a "Pavilion for the Results of Tropical Agriculture Technology R&D."
Held the "31st Awards Ceremony for the Top Ten Shennong Farmers and Model Farmers."
The President promulgated an amendment to the name of Section 4 of Chapter 4 of the "Farmer Health Insurance Act."
The President promulgated the amendment of Article 37 of the "Slopeland Conservation and Utilization Act."
