    Taiwan held its first-ever "Taiwan Agricultural Products Promotion Expo" in Russia.
specialties in international trade shows such as "Foodex Japan," "VIV Asia" (a livestock expo in Thailand), and "AGRIWEEK" in Japan as well as at "Taiwan Expo" activities held in Indonesia and India. A total of 44 companies took part in these events and 325 business negotiations were conducted, creating up to NT$790 million in business opportunities. Among these events, Foodex Japan alone accounted for NT$660 million.
(8) Building direct sales and multiple sales channels for agriproducts
In order to provide consumers with agriproducts that are fresh, safe, eco-friendly, and high quality, and that have special local characteristics, since 2013 the COA’s Agriculture and Food Agency (AFA) has guided the setting up of "farmers’ markets" and "direct sales points for farmers." In addition, since 2015 the AFA has worked with rural communities to strengthen marketing of niche local products and has guided the setting up and operation of "community shops" and "community markets" as well as direct sales points for farmers and farmers’ markets. Farmers’ associations at all levels, in cooperation with rural communities, map out a venue for these activities, use old existing buildings, or use farmers’ association supermarkets or exhibition and sales centers to become focal points for marketing the community’s niche local products.
