Established the “Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Ofce” under the Forestry Bureau of the COA. Facilitated international experience exchange between Taiwanese and German villages by sending winners of the Golden Village Competition to Germany. In addition, four letters of intent to cooperate with German villages were signed during the period. Set up the “Agricultural Technology Pavilion” at the “2018 BioTaiwan” biotechnology exhibition. Set up the “Taiwan Agricultural Technology Pavilion” and the “Taiwan Seedling Hall” at the “2018 Asia Agri-Tech Expo and Forum.” Announced the suspension of the importation of deer, cervid semen, and cervid embryos from listed countries (zones) with reported case(s) of chronic wasting disease. The COA began to implement a policy of unifying (i) inspection and quarantine measures for pets entering the country with (ii) pet registration. In response to the conrmation of an outbreak of African swine fever in mainland China on August 3, Taiwan immediately launched a variety of disease-prevention and preparedness measures. The United Kingdom was allowed to export pork and its products into Taiwan based on the “Quarantine Requirements for the Importation of Meat Derived from Cloven-hoofed Animals” and relevant food inspection regulations. The COA announced that “Prothiophos” was banned for use as a pesticide, with bans on its manufacturing, processing, packaging, import, and export going into effect on September 1, 2018 and bans on its sale and use going into effect on February 1, 2019. Announced amendments to Paragraphs 2 and 4 of the “Directions for Subsidies of Trial Poultry Industry Insurance.” Announced the amendment of Article 3 of the “Regulations Governing the Custody and Application of Legal Reserves, Funds for Public Interests, and Funds for Inter-organizational Extension, Mutual Aid, and Training Services among Farmers’ Associations at All Levels.”      141 July ●●●●●●
